But look at how bright it is !!! Yeah, I would choose DIY route as well. Maybe I should try experimenting to try to get the brightest image possible.

That brightness is for venues. Its overkill for home theater unless you only want to watch during the day. In my opinion the only way to watch projection is in darkness. Any ambient light hitting the screen will lighten the blacks and then what is the point of getting high contrast display?

that also depends a lot on how large your projection will be, for a 6 by 4.5 foot screen its way too much (2 by 1,5m) but when you want large......(why else use a uxga screen ,screendoor is not a big issue with a small screen)...and large i mean 30 by 15 feet or something...then you can use the light...
