Hi,
I am about to build a pair of LXminis and since the Emotiva UPA500 is discontinued I am interested in other options that won't cost a lot, but still sound VERY good and provide enough power to drive the LXminis safely. I prefer modules og ready-made stuff over too much soldering.

A pair of TDA7498's will give you 4 x 100w for ver little money. They sound quite good and are worth considering. Need a 24v power supply and you should get 50w of low distortion pipit no problem.
I don't know about Emotiva but SQ is comparable to TPA3116 which is very good as class D amps go. I don't bother with cases for DIY. But plenty of options for cases.
If you want a cased amp, better off buying a complete finished amp from China, Aliexpress, eBay, etc. you will not save any $ doing it yourself.
For example $57 complete. No way a case, knobs, binding posts etc can be made for less on your own.

Ok. Thanks. What I really want is a poweramp without volume etc. but I probably can just leave at full volume and adjust upstream.
HI, sorry to deviate.. Iam on the cusp of buying 4 x Modlus 86 chip amps and driveing some LX minis anyone tried this?

Hi JOHNNYCR100,
Surely a good amp but at 260 € for only the amp PCBs I think there is a lot of alternatives.
I own a player wich has an Icepower 50ASX2 amp module inside, it sound VERY good. Why not use two pwr-ice125WD plate amp :
PWR-ICE125WD | miniDSP

That is perhaps the finest sounding amp ever at any price. If you can afford it and have time to hand solder that is great. It doesn't hurt to spend $30 for a pair of cheap TDA7498's that are 90% of the way there to get started and for tryout.
thank you
