I used permanent marker refill ink to make cones black again, following donhighend's suggestion.
this ink is very fluid and thin and is easily absorbed by paper, making it black again without adding (much) weight.
it did not dissolve or soften the paper cone. it also did not measurably change TSPs.

The puzzlekoat, as opposed to black felt marker, can also be used to improve the sonics not just the looks.

Not really. Maybe. That would require something like spray paint. Somethign that has been done, but not something i have been interested in trying,
