3W resistors

Low value wire-wound resistors naturally use a short winding of thick wire, so not many turns and not too inductive. Higher value wire-would need longer thinner wire and thus will have more turns and more inductance. There aren't that many metals available as resistance wire (manganin, nichrome, etc) so the geometry is the way resistance is tuned, and geometry is of course the determiner of inductance.



I would expect a 0.1ohm emitter resistor to be very low inductance, even helically wound. I've some 2W 0.22ohm WW in front of me, about 6 turns are visible.
