hi guys,
I've just got a 3m ohp, and a 3m 6100 from ebay. at the moment I've just been using it for watching films from my laptop.
I'm just wondering if you guys have any ideas on how I could conect a playstation/freeview box for cheap, as the pannel doesn't have a s-video/composite input?
I'm thinking it might just be better to get a better panel. the 3m 6100 only has 640x480 pixels, is it a noticable difference with a higher resolution panel?
sorry for so many questions!! hehe
cheers,
pete
(i'll post some pictures of my set-up if anyone's interested?)

Search for a "VGA transcoder"
It will change a composite or s-video into VGA. They cost between $50-$100 US dollars but you might be able to find them cheaper.

cheers, that's still quite expencive!
would a tv tuner for an lcd monitor work (pal to vga)? atm I guess the out-put would have to be either 640x480 or 800x600. do you think that one of these boxes would be compatible/configurable?

I would only be guessing but if it actually converts or I guess the proper word would be transcodes the signal to RGB it should work. Let us know if you try it and the outcome.

A tv tuner should work. I use a Hauppauge PVR 500 tv tuner card on my computer to connect devices that only has composit/s-video out signal. An example is that I use an old vhs camera connected to this card as a high quality webcam. picture quality is great. So I think it should work. Use some old computer as a "mediapc" with an old tunercard, and you've got yourself a solution for playing dvd/xvid/playstation/surfing +++ all connected to your projector. So you don't have to switch around.
That is what I am working on now.... and when the setup is done it will be a good solution I think..... mostly for use with movies, but also for bigscreen tv whenever there is something thats worth upscaling..
