Wow no kidding ,cheapest being like over $20 wow. I'd like to build my own external filter box before it gets to my fuse and switch -- is this feasible? I can do at a later date. That way I can proceed with my case and use standard iec connector with switch /fuse (it's like $5).

I could be getting the popping because I have the common of the dc power supply connected to the safety ground? The purple wire of antek is also there.

It should be ok to remove the DC ground for testing, and try it.
