3D cad drivers

I suggest IGES and 3DS formats.

I've found that in the 3D world, the two most popular exchange formats are 3DS for animation and design fields, and IGES files in the engineering disciplines. Although there are a lot of AutoCAD users, most of the engineering people use SolidWorks/ProE for 3D work while Alias/Maya/3DStudio/Rhino are popular among the non-engineering set. I personally use Rhino... huge bang for buck. Including a killer PC, it's cheaper than a single ACAD license.

I can offer to maintain a page on my DIY audio website with all the files for people to download.

I was going to offer to put it on my site but since you have offered and have a good site together, I can make my database of drivers available and put a link on my site to yours.

Regarding format ...

If we had them in IGES, 3ds max and AutoCAD then we cover things pretty well. If we convert AutoCAD to 3ds then a model done in autocad may have to be converted to 3ds, then the person using it might then have to convert back to Autocad!
