tons of NSB's

No, but close to a hundred of them NSB’s used for short and long arrays, see next 3 pictures.

Then pictures showing short NSB points source all Bessel array, used at a Cyber Café when playing 5.1 video games.

The center speaker is omitted, not needed, and 4 short 5 elements NSB (not shown in picture) Bessel surround arrays placed on the floor with upwards facing drivers made this system to a hit.

No, I’m not an advocate for using vertical oriented Bessel arrays for main speakers other than for short and wave guided, (for controlled horizontal dispersion,) max. 2” tweeter arrays, 5 to 7 elements, that in my opinion works perfectly as point sources if crossed over > 3 kHz and used at a distance more than 10-15 x array length.

(For 2” 5 element array, the array length is 8” and corresponds to a listening distance > 10' (3 m) if (15 x array length) is used.)

For this case and in my opinion too, is that the phase is not a big issue, when considering the crossover, or the acoustic summations over the whole listening area covered by the short Bessel arrays.

For surround use I vote for many, laterally at random placed short Bessel arrays as considered possible when listening to music, where the arrays should operate at JND levels, tons of NSB’s would be perfect. 🙂

Last submitted pictures show horizontal arrayed center speakers that can be Bessel configured or power tapered easily if the driver(s) with negative sign(s) is (are) reversed.
