Hi
I have a question
AN Audio note dac2.1 balanced(factory) with 6922 tubes and 5:1 IE core opts.
Is it possible to use 33:1 double c-core OPTs for this? What will the result be?
For me I will say lower output impedance and lower volume output .. But I am not excactly sure.
Will it be ok otherwise and if the system as a whole is extremely sensitive (i.e. on the volume knob) will it even be beneficial?
Best Regards

With the ratio off that far, I doubt you will get any output.
If you want to go with a "nicer" C core.....keep looking for a matching ratio.....you quite probably will have to get one custom made.

Hi!
Basically this is possible, but you need to verify if the 33:1 transformer is suitable to be driven by the circuit in your DAC. You are right it will provide lower output impedance and a gain lower by factor 6-7 which could be beneficial. if your system has too much gain, which you probably meant by it being too sensitive
But wether it is practical for your case even if the new transformer fits to the circuit is another question. With a 5:1 transformer the output impedance is already very low. Going much lower will not gain much. The only advantage you will have is the reduction of the excessive gain. A better approach would be to eliminate that excessive gain.

sounds like you got too much gain in the preamp.
if you made this preamp, remove the cathode bypass caps to establish a better gain structure.
