I was looking at a 24.4 but seen several 32.8 available for a few hundred more..
Getting the band back together and was wondering if a Mackie 32.8 will work for us live..
I mean for a grand isnt bad..
We used to use a 16.4vlz so I am familiar. .
2. Also... since I have 8 jbl 18" and 4 Yorkville elite ex 2000 what is a great 2 way stereo crossover to pick up...not sure where to cross but I figure around 70hz..
I do have a bryston 10bLR in my home system..its set at 50hz but not much flexibility really
Thanks gents

At the money you're spending, get a DCX2496 or better. You get crossovers (asymmetrical if you like), near-endless EQ, automatic delays and limiting.

I was thinking a little more analog for the pa crossover
But thanks for the reply
I will keep it in mind

I have a Mackie32-8 and i just love the thing!!
I have had a few issues with the some of the ribbon connectors but re-seating them usually fix's that.
I have had mine since it was new in 1994 and I have had it on 24/7 for the last 4 to 5 years straight never turning it off except to move it around.
You will have much better flexibility with it than you will with one of the 24-4buss models namely in the Filter sections and of course having 8 buss's to work with.
Not to mention the 6 aux sends with stereo returns on every channel.
Although you can only use 4 at a time it is still more than you would need, and if you did need more you always have the master buss section to use as well!!!
The full parametric filter is just Priceless!!
I have mainly used mine for recording with a MSR-16.
Although my board is now aging and needs two new sliders they all still work and give me a clean and noise free operation.
I paid $5000 for my board and it is just amazing that they can be found for just $500 now.
My board was around heavy smoke back in the day and didn't even work when I got it back.
After a good thorough cleaning it is back to factory spec's.
I only had one repair issue so far with the power distribution board burning up and some Molex power connectors going bad recently.
But for the most part I haven't had any issues with its sound and it still has all of its original opamp's.
The only flaw I have in my board that others haven't reported is the the Baragraph displays are a scanning type and I can hear the noise under certain conditions.
Mainly during monitoring and in the headphones but this doesn't effect recording off of each of the individual channels.
I can fix this, But the thing is very awkward to work on so I will do this at a later date.
I have ask others about this and they have never heard of this issue.
I have never turned out a bad recording from the board otherwise.
I went round and round with the factory about this but there was no way that I was about to ship it back to them to fix it and be without it.
The factory told me that they were not a scanning type of display and here it is 20 years later after I got the schematics to find out that they are, so they lied to me from the beginning.
This is just a small issue that I will fix later.
Mine was one of the First few that was First produced but I never had it apart until 2003 (to clean it as mentioned) and just two other times in the last 20 years.
Eventually I will upgrade the the straight thru channels and buss's (everything minus the filter sections) with some more recent opamps like the LME49990 or 720's or something as it would be a major undertaking to do so (+500 some opamp stages).
I did that to my First mixer (a Fostex 454) and gave the Mackie a run for its money when I got it done.
I used NE5532's and TL072's in that one.
As long as you can find one of these boards in good working order for as cheap as I have seen them go for, I think you would be happy with it and a better choice.
It would be a steal well worth it!!!!
I would love to get one more myself!!!! 😉

P.S. Here are just a few pictures. 🙂
