What are my options for around 300 dollars in drivers and x-o components, in a completed design?
I really like the Dave Brown db717TL design, but I think that the TL cabinet might be a bit much, but are there any other good MTM or other designs in this price range, most designs I find are either more or less, I'd really like an Eros but it's a bit much for my budget.

No problem soldering up an x-over, I am pretty confident in my ability to do that (never soldered an x-over but soldered other electronics).
I would suggest you go look for kits at madisound.com or partsexpress.com (I personally prefer madisound) and find what suits you the most.
