3-way vs 4-way; what should I go?

I really need to go back to the Wavecor waveguide tweeter thread with my tail between my legs, but in my defence I'm still tweaking the crossover.

The woofer is the Eminence Delta 10A and the tweeter is the Wavecor TWO30WA12 crossed at about 1050hz. There's no spitting or distortion, but I need to do more testing before I'm 100% sure it's ok crossing that low.

Nice. I am really interested in Eminence Legend B102. Looks quite well balanced for a two way - at the expense of -5dB though. Better option would be Deltalite II 2510 (at 70gbp more than Delta 10A per pair).

@digitalthor
I am ready to share more about my project (was ~ 5 years ago), but that seems off-topic to me in this thread. If no interest is voiced by the thread starter, you may want to PM me.

Greetings,
Winfried

wgh52, you can share your build in this thread. I believe it is useful to all of us. I’m interested in your post about the tweeter response and using tweeter at quite low frequency — 1,200 Hz as your example of wavecore — too as one of my commercial speakers, vintage ADS L620, also has a crossover point at 1,500 Hz to its 1” tweeter.

The deltalite is a good driver. I used it in a 2-way with an 18sound compression driver. The only reason I chose the delta 10a for this design was because of the powerful motor and light cone.

OK, I'll look this up in my archive, hoping I find the measurements.

The tweeter used was not wave core, but the B&W tweeter in the N804.

Anyway, I'll be back when I've found the stuff to share.

Hi, I’ve got a new idea of using mixed between 3 and 4-way sets of my original post.

4-way;
Tweeter: 1”
Midrange: 3” (buy new, maybe the scan-speak D7608/9200)
Mid-bass: 6.5”
Bass: 10”
Crossover points: 130, 500 and 2,500 Hz

I’m not sure whether my set up would be a redundant-component choice. I think the 4-way may be better at covering the whole spectrum and offer wider dispersion. However, what is your opinion?
