3" Driver in a Transmission Line.

As some of you will know, I've been using some Visaton FRS8s in open baffle speakers, using one in the baffle and one to cancel the rear wave.

I was curious about making a (fairly) small TL for them to see how they perform. Some say TLs shouldn't be tuned below driver Fs. If this is true for all projects, this will be a waste of time (Fs around 120Hz for this driver).

I am doing this to learn, as many like the sound of horn/TL speakers, and I wanted to know what made it so brilliant.

Chris, as I suggested to Kipman, personally, for something this small, I'd use an FRS8M as a full range (bit more efficient than the FRS8) & the WS130 for the low end (< 200Hz). You will only be able to get an EBS alignment happening for the FRS8, and to use eq to get reasonable bass level will push such a small driver beyond its capabilities. You'll get much less distortion going 2 way (& these drivers are pretty cheap...)

Nice link there - I was searching through the full range forums for something like that and got nothing...

I have 4 with me, and can get a lot more if needbe (they're £8 each here, but bulk buys are a lot cheaper).
