Depends on purpose

Hi Dj Dan,

Depends...

If you want to use it for PA (dj, disco...), it's probably fine.
If you're looking for something for high-end home use, I would look for less power and more detail.

PA amp's have several issues where they consider issues differenty than home high-end gear.
Power supply, Fan cooling (accoustic noise), S/N ratio, distortion levels, power rating (stated at 1kHz: Allows for early HF roll-off, to avoid HF oscillation (read: stability) needed in some high gain circuits to achieve the high output voltage.)

These would be my main concerns... hope it helps you 🙂

Typical pro amp. Apart from the whether the power specs in this specific unit are accurate, pro amps of this type do produce impressive watts per euro (or $). However, they have different design goals from units designed for home listening. This include energy efficiency (nothing like setting up for a concer only to discover the hall you are in has insufficient mains power), porpability (even roadies deserve a break), protection against all sorts of abuse such as dropping off the van or plugging speakr output from one unit into the inputs oin another.

Then there is the fan noise.

It's not that the designers don't care about sound quality, but that other requirements must be met first. I don't know about this particular unit, but some of the better sounding pro units are used successfully in custom home theater installations where the advantages out weigh the disadvantages. Don't assume the sound is terrible, but it is probably not up to the most finiky audio-nut standards.
