2SC2229 and 2SA733 replacment/substitute

I need help for direct replacement or substitute for 2SC2229 and 2SA733 transistors.

Can I substitute 2SC2229 with BD139 and 2SA733 with BC557?

Please advise.

2SA733 are just general purpose transistors. BC557 will work but the pinout is different.

2SC2229 is a high speed low capacitance driver transistor. The BD139 is not a good substitute, it is too slow and not high enough voltage. The only currently manufactured part that would substitute well is Fairchild KSC3503
