What a wonderfull world of DIY 😀 a very respectufll member RM( nothing but good expierence with him) feels its too expenive , BUT on the other thread he sells basicaly same transistors (2sc2240/2sa970) at such premium price that other member insulted him believing its price for 100psc not a single unit 😀
no busines here, just findings- i have send last year my last 2sa1349 transitors to RM for free (i payed postage as well) when i will get it more- i will do the same. i just desolder them from amplifiers. i believe he makes much better aplifiers which makes other people happy. lets share trasistors to ones they needed the most. money will not make friends. but sharing our passion - surely.

What A Beautiful Mind, pun NOT intended, your gift warmed my heart. I`m old enough to have learned, the hard way, that rubbing peoples feathers does no good to anybody. So I strive not to.
As to my ads, let me just say that they are a product of my lifelong hoarding and elevated age. I have a rather huge stash of components that I will not be able to use myelf, so I sell them, and the buyer can rest assured they are not some kind of knock off from shores far away, but the real deal. The prices are what they are, but to the best of my evaluation, realistic, as they are all highly sought after specimen.
Most, not all, but the lions share of my revenue from these sales are invested in, in most instances, older, mostly obsolete transistors. The golden age of semis are long gone, never to return. I have to get them while I can, as many of my products, current and upcoming rely on them. I neeed only mention the initials JC for you to find a kindred spirit of the same persuation. I also feel inclined to mention a comment from Edward T. Dell of Audio Amateur fame. He once asked a local ice cream vendor about his secret. "Use good stuff", was the answer. May we all be able to honour that sentiment.
Thanks for looking.

completely agree on "good transitors are gone" . sad times has come.
to be honest toshiba 2sc2240/970 sonicaly slightly worse(have that "metallic hights quality" than NEC and Sanyo alternatives (noise figures however is outstanding on 2240/970 which can easily can be HEARD on high eficienty speakers)
but it all depends on aplifier design- if amplifier carefull tuned with 2240/970 and other aprticular transitors it will sound great, no metallic hights. because overal sound depends on implementation(selecting resitors/capacitors)
Regarding prices of obsolete transitors. i have gathered around 150psc 2sc2240/970 for Marantz ma9s2 project. the most expenisves i bought new for 1eur/psc in europe from repair shop who specialized in tape decks. (friend of mine bought 400psc 2240/970 from china for around 0.7eur/each. to my surprise they were genue) but most 2240/970 i got was salvage from amplifers. even cheapest amplifiers in that era had bunch of 2240/970. even in protection circuits. there were cheap(unlike jfets) and used like pop corns..
I bought for the same project ~30psc new sanken 2sa1216/2sc for 7 eur/psc which i think its premium price.
i was in the same train. I bought kilograms of Black Gates in 2007 directly in japan. it was very cheap comapring eve to that time dealers selling prices. after 10 years prices went up very high. i saw market prices and naturally sold them for 10x profit( which still was cheaper than other ofers).
i was happy funding money to toher audio toys i bought at that time. . until i realized that most of customers are from east , gathering hard earned money , which they probably stole from childs food funds.. we audiophiles are spoiled hurnitng other hobies or even food for better sound. so i just simply stopped selling them. its not worth earn money knowing someone suffers.. makes no joy. its part of empathy, common to us, primates. we have here excelent diyaudio community, i got so many help every time I asked. its wonderfull.
