2nd Hand Technics Sl1210mk2 Voltage Problem

Hi Everyone, Im new here I joined the forum to ask this question:

I just recieved a 2nd hand technics sl1210mk2 american edition.

I live in Israel we use the european power standard.

I cant get the thing to turn on.

I have checked the voltage selector under the platter and purchased an american-european voltage convertor/adapter but I still cant get the thing ON.

the seller i bought it from states upon his life the thing was functional when he sent it, its possible theres some damage to it because theres some dents on the back of the casing.

does anyone know how to check this baby out? or any specific steps that should be taken to convert this american edition to european/israeli standard?

I'd appreciate the info.

Hi renegadezion,

I've taken a look at the instruction manual for your TT ( you can find it at www.vinylengine.com ) and it seems there is a switch for 120/220 volts mains ( but maybe yours was made for the american market so it doesn't have one ), and it's pretty much ,,plug'n'play". If it doesn't work with the adapter you purchased and you are sure the mains voltage are set correctly ( again if it's possible ) it looks like it was damaged during transport .

I hope you purchased an auto-transformer as opposed to the thing they sell for resistive appliances like toaster ovens and coffee makers? Otherwise it is possible that your convertor/adapter damaged the power transformer in the table.

Does this TT actually have a voltage selector switch?
