I found some 2n3055hv's for sale at www.allelectronics.com and assumed the hv at the end means high voltage but haven't been able to find a data sheet or a manufacturer.
Does anyone no the story on this?
I did find a this 2N3055HV.pdf but I don't know who kestparts is so?
A 2n3055 with a vceo of 140v and still only a $1.00 I hope this true.

hey Tube_Dude,
I'm not sure where they got the information from, if it was from a real datasheet I would think the power dissipation would of been listed.
I can't believe I've never heard of this 2n3055hv chip so I'm a little skeptical of it, which is why I posted to see if someone else has used it or even seen it maybe.
I guess I'll be the guinie pig and buy some, check'em out.
Imo mje3055, tip3055, and 2n3055 usefulness is limited by it's low vceo (60V), for af amplifiers use anyway. So a 2n3055 with a vceo 140 is much better and for the same price.
I'd really like to find a real datasheet.
Cheers,

"But certainly you need a complementary pair...have they a MJ2955 HV ??"
A 120V 3055/2955 is called a MJ15015/16, Motorola shows all four on one data sheet. Carver used these in the M400T and Crown in the Macrotech 600.
My guess is the 3055HV is actually a 2N3442
Motorola/ON Semiconductor prices went up again, 18% in the last couple of months.

........
Not if you going for a JLH Class A amp:
The Class-A Amplifier Site
But certainly you need a complementary pair...have they a MJ2955 HV ??
I build quasi amps. Here's my favorite.
