Anybody ever try using an isolation transformer for this function? It's not a toroid, but you can get the secondary voltage and VA rating you want in a standard device. In the diagram below, if you hook up the two 110 Volt primaries in series and take the output off the two 120 Volt windings, you'll get 2 * 65.5 Volts at the secondary (1.09x stepup). Signal Transformer makes the DU-2 in this design and Pacific Transformer makes the PTT-06-08, both 2 kVA units. Both vendors specifically state that both the primaries and the secondaries can be hooked up in series or parallel. But these monsters are 56 lb! I don't know the cost either. Bet they're pricey.

I emailed victoria magnetics but I never got a reply. I don't know what to do...
I always just give them a call, and John can take down your information and generate a price quote for you. His phone number is off their main page:

That's a good idea! Not likely to get stolen either, weighing that much.

Found some toroidal power transformer on digikey website. A 2KVA is over $400.00. We need to start making our own. I'm going to try much harder to find a source for cores. Wonder how much a toroid winding machine cost? Probably way too much. Winding this many turns by hand will get old fast.
it the great south land, theres surplus 250VA toroidals with no mounting hardware..... anyway, they are 18volts (dual 9volt secondaries) so 8 of these in series gives you dual 72volt secondaries... I know, its a bit high, and you don't live in Australia.. but not my problem, the only good thing about these is that they only cost $25 each.. so for the 8 required it would be $200 Australian, which is $150 US, but, ofcourse the downside is 8 transformers weighing in at about 4Kgs each (which they apparently do) is 30+Kgs of transformers... lol
