hello guys,
i'm looking for a good schematic for a 2a3. I know their are tons shematic's out there. But i have red thorsten information about configurations, and else where a lot of tube builders have the same experience : CT, SRRP, they are good but there is something "wrong" with the sound. So i'm lost in space, cyberspace,
🙄
so what would you do, i haven't bought anything offcourse, so everything is open, it is not that i have a very large budget, but i also know that building a good tube amp isn't for free.
from what i see, an interstage or a loftin white could be an very good solution,
what do you think guys, every help is welkom. (even most freaky designs) and if have something, can you give me the name or url, so i can sreach or look at it.
thanx a lot already

Well I'm quite happy with the angela.com 6sl7 cathode follower shown on their website. With the addition of grid stopper resistors and some playing with operating points it sounds very refined and natural, with decent bass (rare in a lot of SET designs.) Better than SRPP or anode follower, or loftin-white IMHO.
Some of the best amps ever made have used cathode followers (think ongaku) so I would try it for yourself and see. Alternatively you could use another power tube like EL84 to drive a 2A3, this is something I have always wanted to try.
Get a nice big chassis and try a few different designs would be my advice...
