24 bit DAC and ADC questions - What are you using and liking?

I am looking to update some ADC and DACs. I've got the following:

ADC = CD4053BCM
DAC = Crystal CS4223 - KS

These are old and outdated and need to be replaced. I suppose if I change the ADC above which is a Multiplexer I may also need to change the clock.

Looking for any input on what's current. This is in a 24 bit audio situation.
thanks!!

I just spoke with Cyrus about the Crystal DAC and they said the
CS4223 was updated to CS4270.

However I have no idea if it's a pin for pin chip swap or if the clock will work etc. etc. Is there an easy way to find this information?

777funk,

As stated in another thread 'A few weeks ago I did order the A/D converter kit from Uwe Beis, AD24QS - Audio Analog to Digital Converter 24 Bit / 192 kHz'

But this will take until the end of next month before it is going to sing, I let you know.

Regards,
Frans.

P.s. The electronics if finished, except for the ADC, and the box has arrived, you can see pictures at http://www.flickr.com/photos/fransdewit/sets/72157618193792112/

P.s. The box was made by http://www.modu.it

I'm completely an analog guy (mostly tubes some opamps etc) and new to digital audio so please forgive me...

but an ADC is a shift register and a clock is that right or am I off?

And a DAC is an all in one package usually. Am I accurate in saying that? Is it also tied to the same clock as the ADC?

So, in the event of upgrading DAC's and ADC's what am I looking for?

Do I upgrade the clock? Seems like we're at 192khz now which we didn't see back in the late 90's is that right?

If I upgrade the clock do I need to upgrade the rest of the DAC and ADC? Are there direct swaps for the parts I mentioned or is there more to it than that.

Sorry if I'm leaving any holes in my logic. I'm trying to put all the pieces together here.

Thanks!
