Chris used to have that on his Linns, and is what he used to start when we got into FRs... he has since been using Cat5, slowly decreasing the number of strands until no more can be thrown away and still maintain a connection.
It may not be the absolute best wire (for any ap), but in many it defines frugal-phile(tm)...

Blanket statements like that are meaningless... affects of cable cannot be considered eclusive of the amplifier & the speakers they are connected to.
