Hi,

i have two pairs of 211 tubes RCA NOS...

.............Two pairs,he?
The problem with that is that any other current production 211 is going to sound considerably worse than the RCAs.

To save you from the disappointment why not sell them, they catch a good deal of cash, and make something with readily available cr*p....
Oh well...guess I'm just a little jealous.😱

You need to be comfortable, and experienced working with voltages around 1kV

And well beyond the 1Kv mark too....Not that it matters one bit on the lethal side of things but still. R.I.P.

Good driver tube is the 6BX7 for instance....if you can find some amidst the kariatides...

Cheers, 😉

P.S.

A bit of forum etiquette - could you please use the caps lock key?

211s are BIG tubes .................😎

For SE, I'd look at the John Camille design that was published in Sound Practices some time ago. For PP, iirc Mark Kelly published an interesting design in Glass Audio.

If I was looking at building something like this, I'd start with a PS for the output stages and another for the driver(s) and experiment from there. When I built my 813 and GM70 amps a high power pentode driver like the EL84, 12HL7 etc running in pentode worked extremely well.
However, if you want to stay all triode, then this amp with the output stage substituted for the PP211 would also work well.

Hi Giannis,
You can search in Sakuma's page-direct heating for a good schematic. As for the NOS 211 keep in mind that 1000V is the higher limit for some of theme,so be carefull with those expensive tubes.
An other good idea would be to use them for driving 845 in SE or PP operation.PP sugested.I imagine, you have seen the ratings of RCA 211 and so building an amplifier either in SE or PP mode is a great mutter of what speaker will be drived.
Reflected resistance remains a problem for a SE plf,by means that you are going to search for a huge OPT of a good quality.
:att'n: Warning:1KV kould kill!

Xáéñåôßóìáôá!
