211 SE amplifier (UV-211) - need help with bias settings.

Hi Folks,

I have got Sanei UV-211 tube amplifier...

Bias settings according to manual : 90V( Grid) and 65mA(for 211 tubes) bias...at this settings I get distortions in sound...I can get rid of distortions only on high Bias - around 100-110mA.

I tried two sets of tubes result is the same - distortion on manual recommended settings: 90V/65mA.

Is it problem with power capacitors?

Thank you,

Andy.

If this schematic is right, than the voltage on the grid of the 211 should be -56 V (and the voltage on the grid of the 12BH7 should be -80 V). Maybe you have a different version of this amplifier?

Running your 211's at 100-110 mA at the anode voltage indicated (985 V) seems like pushing them too hard to me. The anode dissipation will be over 100 Watt while the datasheet specifies 75 Watt as the maximum for class A.
