That idea crossed my mind as well. But if anything only two 12" would fit in the enclosure (at the front).Better overall to buy relatively inexpensive higher Qt [4] 12" or 15" sub drivers whether put all in one place or preferably distributed around the room per Dr. Geddes.

I wanted an enclosure that is max. 55 cm wide/high and 50 cm deep.
Then there is the amping. I would need a 2 Ohm stable amp, because the way I see it there aren't that many 8 Ohm 12".
That being said, I personally would prefer one driver (per side).

The drivers do not have to be on the front. Using a pair of drivers, and putting them on opposite faces of the box, is advantageous.
