OK, well that sounds cool. BTW, picture aspect ratio above of image is way distorted- linked Photobuck image- really squashed. Something different I should be doing?
I'll plan on making this, then.
Is there going to be some kind of registration process? How's the planning for this working out? I see in your signature a link for signing up- I'll try that out.
Here's another teaser on the speaker system- SPL with distortion plot- the ScanSpeak tweeter shows the characteristics high 2nd harmonic level; I think some people feel that's a nice "sweetener", but I wish just for the heck of it ScanSpeak would try going for a more neutral target, like Transducer Labs, and balanced HD2 and HD3, just as low.

You just register when you arrive. This is the important thing- to have us keep a space for you. You've done that..
when you link to a photo, the aspect ratio gets messed up if its not in the 'right' AR that this forum expects. happens (and is annoying).
best to upload the photo to this site and it will appear as an icon that is clickable at the bottom of the post. problem is that you lose inline image ability if you put all images as 'attachments'.
the AR problem is annoying, though.

It seems to correct itself when I hit the expand picture function

Walking from Caltrain station?
Hi,
I'm wondering if those who know the area might be able to comment.
I will be coming down by Caltrain. (Staying in SF because of wife
and child coming along.) Google maps shows the Caltrain to be about
one mile away.
Is the area safe to walk in? If not, are taxis readily available from the
train station?
Thanks,
Dennis

that area should be fine. you are nowhere near the city, really; you'd have to drive for more than 15 minutes to get into the city.
redwood is south of the city and fairly suburban. I think you should be fine.

Yup what?
uhm, yup, SIR?
my, we're awefully formal here, today.

Haha, 😀
That reminded me of this old classic from my youth:
Sergeant Hulka: You don't say "sir" to me, I'm a sergeant, I work for a living.
Soldiers: Yes, sergeant!
Sergeant Hulka: I didn't hear you!
Soldiers: *Yes, sergeant*!
Sergeant Hulka: *That's* what I wanna hear.
Thanks for bringing some good memories to mind!
Looks like I'm coming to BAF alone (if) and that's going to limit what I can bring/do somewhat, so it might be mostly a social visit. I'll still try to get the presentations, but please grant me some latitude there.

Yup it's safe. And I'd say it's at least a half hour to SF
Thanks for the confirmation. I thought I'd ask since on my first visit to a school on the east coast many years I was warned, for safety reasons,
not to try to walk from the train station to campus.
Cheers,
Dennis
Hi Mark,
Stuart Easson mentioned that you were interested in me bring down my pair of stand mounted ZD5's. I'm happy to do so as well as the DIY KSA's stuart and i built together several years ago. The monitors and the amps sound great together.
Can you pair me with a source and cableing?
Cheers

Hi Neil,
I've heard your speakers and amps like them a lot. And I'll add you to the room assignments.
However it does bring up an issue: While listing more complete systems helps us plan, the heart and soul of BAF is the variety of components. People often bring one component and the idea is to swap them into systems. We also are usually short of source components, so CD players, turntables, and computer based players are needed. Since some of these are hard to DIY, we need people to bring commercially made also.
Finally, remember to bring your cables and a power strip. Generally people should bring the cable feeding into their component. So loudspeakers should have speaker cables, amps and pre-amps, interconnects. At least bring these items and keep them in your car just in case...
