Dunno about their woofer motors but Eton's latest neo silk domes look pretty tasty.
Impatiently waiting for SB to publish info on the new Satori MR13P

You are looking at a $700 speaker without any mentioning of basic things like a copper cap/sleeve or faraday rings...or any special kind of topology.
I mean I've liked the Eton speakers that I've heard in the past, but they are premium priced with basic motors.

Wow, what's with all the Eton hate? There's a lot of strong negative opinions about the motors already. Where did you read about the motor being sub-par?
Technically part of the home line, I wonder if it is indeed more for show if it's more for the auto upgrade industry?

Winslow,
I thought Eton added value in the high-tech composite driver materials. For instance, one kit builder online mentions the lack of upper frequency break-up using a Hexacone woofer.
Not that I'm arguing that justifies a $700 price! I'm just wondering. Especially since Madi has a couple of the smaller (affordable!) Eton midwoofers on sale I keep thinking of making something with them. Of course, I need to either stop making speakers, or start selling what I make. The cats are feeling a little crowded.

If you make it really stiff, it will break up like a mofo. If you make speakers with cone cry, you smooth your datasheets a lot 😉
I think of Eton like Focal and Audax- heavy on the cone technology but not so much with the motors. But they can sound wonderful.
I had a couple sets of Diamond Audio Hexes (car audio brand) back in the late 90s/early 2000s and loved how they sounded...and they were Eton cones (7 and 4) and a LPG aluminum tweeter.

Hehe, I don't know about Focal woofers and mids, but yeah, their tweeter motors are dwarven. 🙂

Because they're ugly and crude, but expensive.

Wrong, they're hot and sexy looking. 🙂 Hexacone gets all the visual love from me. I still buy ScanSpeak though. 🙂
Best,
Erik

Taste is subjective, but I stand by my initial evaluation: they look like riced-out Monitor Audio knockoffs. And that filleted whistler in the middle is stupid as well as ugly.
I'm not really sure how I would about the magnesium cones actually. When I mentioned hot and sexy I meant the Hexacone drivers.
The newest Satori drivers seem to approach the "no need to spend more" price/value point for most diy.
Domes:
TW29RN-B
RW29RN-B high efficiency
7.5" Midbass
MW19P-4:
MW19P-8:
9½" woofer ( 2" voicecoil)
13½" woofer ( 3" voicecoil)

In the USA, John at Acoustic Elegance has added a few new drivers to the family. Worth a visit!
It's interesting I have been looking at TW29RN and MW19P-4 for a while because their spec look impressive.
Is there any proven 2-way design using these units?

Not yet and exactly what I'm thinking would be a killer 2 way. I'd choose the 8 ohm tho

Something similar, I found.
Plenty of builds with the smaller midwoofer. Perhaps the best are the Kairos by Jeff B

You're right. I found more with 6.5", but none so far with 7".

.... pretty good ! You even don't want a filter with good curve like that, just puut your head 30° off axis
In BR ? What a pitty the mid has not more efficienty to avoid bafle step loss...

These new TB tweeters look quite special. Neo magnet arrangment and Inverted coated titanium dome which @60 degrees is flat out to nearly 10 khz

That's not really a new model... the datasheet bears the date "9/12/2011". It was tested a couple of years ago by some guys at Parts-Express.com and was pretty good but the QC from TB has not been stellar on these.
