I really like this thread - I use Linux as my operating system (mainly Slackware and more recently, Ubuntu and Mint) but haven't happened to look at Legacy Linux... I will check it out straight away, looks like a good candidate for my eee laptop
Hello Karl M,
Legacy OS 2.1 LTS won't run on your EeePC and you'll be disappointed. Use Legacy OS 4 Mini on your EeePC. It was developed to run on the 900A model. You'll need to install an extra wifi driver to get on line. let me know how you go.

Hello Thimios,
In the applications menu select Setup > Wizard > Configure a Broadband / Network Connection.
The Puppy_Network_Setup app will start. Hopefully your WiFi driver is supported but you'll first need to load the correct driver by pressing "Load Driver". The wizard may find it straight away or you may have to do a websearch to discover what's installed in your Acer. You also have the option to grab the Windows Driver "ndiswrapper" for I'm assuming the installed Windows OS still on your Acer's Hard Drive. Good Luck!

Questions
I am a newbie to the Linux community
I have an old Dell C400 Latitude. Works fine except. Windows XP!
My son uses it for home work and such but it having issues with the
browser.
SO my questions are
1. If I load Legacy OS. Will he be able to use Microsoft Office 2003 we have
or does he have to use a Open Source software?
2. What browser should I use? Opera?

1) No, MS Office 2003 is out. Libreoffice 4.3 is very compatible with it, looks similar and does a much better job of inter-working with newer versions of Office
I recently upgraded to an Intel i7 processor and motherboard.
I was a little upset to find it wouldn't run XP.
The XP setup wouldn't drive my motherboard and crashed out.
This is a pain because I was still using a couple of 16 bit software packages that I had come to get to know very well and they were very useful. These wont run on Win 7, Vista or Win 8.
I found out that Win 8.1 32 bit still runs 16 bit software.
So now I have Win 8.1 32 bit on one hard drive and Win 8.1 64 bit on my other hard drive.
Hey, looks GOOD !!! 🙂
I , like many, have a couple old clunkers around, guess will put them back in use.
Thanks 🙂

I am still using XP Pro on my Quad core computer.
I was wondering if i switched to something like this would i still have hardware support for my soundcards and hardware etc..?
How is the DPC Latency on the OS? Is there a way to check what the DPC latency is for it?
That is my main reason for never using a higher OS is XP x86 had great really low latency and the later OSes lag a bit. This probably doesn't mean much unless you do production.

There is a Win 7 version (Professional I think) that has an XP mode. It works pretty well. Also running a WIN 98 virtual PC mode. Also works well if you don't have a really specific video card performance requirement. Savage S3 is all it does.
Download Windows XP Mode from Official Microsoft Download Center
