depending on which credit card, you will be charged about 3% for credit card transaction. 3% is quite a bit on the size of the order jrsun is taking right now (over $1000).

verifying your account to allow to pay through a bank account is not too difficult a process. also, if you dont like the ordering rules, then just dont order right?

Well, if it turns out that a little discussion clears up a problem so that all can order, then what's wrong with that? Of course the final decision is always up to the purchaser and jrsun. Perhaps they could add 3% to their order and jrsun is happy, perhaps that still doesn't work and we have to stick with the established rules. I don't see why discussing an issue is a problem.

Whether true or not, I think some people prefer to use Paypal linked to their cards because they think it might give them more recourse if the information gets in the wrong hands. I know that you are able to cancel charges that aren't made by you on your credit card if you weren't the one making them. This isn't to imply we don't trust jrsun! just that in general, ordering online we prefer not to have money in our accoiounts directly accessible to Paypal- a servce that gets scammed regularly.

Variac, you have a valid arguement. much better than just complaining. well the final decision is for jrsun to make. but he doesnt seem to be around these past days, i still have no reply about the sizing of the rca's and binding posts (explained in a previous post on this thread).

But you also have a point homer09. I didn't realize that the credit card makes it cost more- but it makes sense. Probably jr is just trying to keep the cost as low as possible, and keeping track of how people pay might be more hassle. Wow, this is the most civilized discussion online ever!

5/16"

Jrsun,

Just wanted to clarify something:

1 pair of binding post means posts for 2 channels or, literally, a pair of posts (positive and negative for one channel)?

I may have to change my wiki amount depending on which it is.

Thanks,
KT

UrSv,

I think the reason jrsun doesnt want to accept credit card is because this forces you to upgrade your paypal account to a business account. This type of account has fees when receiving any payment. So by accomodating the few people who for some reason cannot pay by check or through a verified account, he would be forced to pay fees for every payment! and these fees arent just 3%, there is also a flat fee per transaction. :dead:

PayPal also charges a 1% fee for "across borders" transactions.

Standard fee is 3.2% Add 1% for out of country transfers, and 2-4% for CC fees, and you can see how paypal makes its money.

I am in the middle of a GB and we have so far paid PayPal fees > $50.

I'd happily add whatever surcharge would be needed to order with PayPal by Credit Card but as these GP rules are now I'll unfortanately have to stay out.

Sure. I didn't know HE had to upgrade his account just because MY account was using a credit card.

no free lunches right? paypal has to eat too 😉

Sorry for OT.

Obviously they have to eat, it's not a non-profit org and I'm not disputing that. Still does not make sense however. I can't see why HIS withdrawal would be affected by MY account using a credit card. If I get a fee deducted from my payment and add a corresponding increase to cover for that then HE should receive whatever amount he wanted in the end. At least that's the way I've been using PayPal successfully across the globe for quite some time. Even if that would not be the way it works then this is the first time I hear it is a problem for the paying party to add enough to cover any fee incurred on either the buyer or the seller side. This is what I happily offered to do.
