my regular room is small and the 15 inch Karlson cabinet probably sounds better away from a corner giving it breathing room - Gary Karr sounds awful on my Klipschorns and spellbinding on Karlson - maybe part of the problem with Khorn is my flexy wall larger room
From looking at your 2 way Karlsons, I am guessing that the Eminence Beta12LTA driver with a small tweeter like the Eminence APT50, would make a kicker of a hi-fi box as well as a stage-monitor.
Any ideas on the box, vent and K-slot dimensions??
Thanks guys,

1955 Karlson Twelve Drawing - this was the first 12" model and had a horizontal slot port and 3 position tunable
rear lowpass choke bar on its rear panel

The more common Karlson Twelve whose plans appeared in the July 1958 issue of Popular Mechanics had a 25 degree baffle, 10 degree cant to its port board and 6 - slit vents.
A later K12 went back to 30 degree baffle but retained the 10 degree port panel - it apparently came without a vent and included instructions on tuning to particular
drivers. A nice example of this cabinet just closed on Ebay and had an array of 12-3/4"
holes to tune it to a Tannoy Monitor Red 12"
Here's a side sketch - I believe its external dimensions were the same
as the other Karlson 12 enclosures
That K12's vent looked like this depiction by Ken Peter
Beta 12LTA has 0.080 inch overhang but a good usable xmax - you could make an internal Karlson tube from 1" pipe and run it with APT50 as in
Carl's little "X8"
also since 12LTa plays on axis to ~7KHz you could strap a small tweeter in front of it and save a bit of hassle
here's a Martin 1114 Eminence 12" coaxial with 80oz magnet - this stage monitor coax was snappy with APT50 in K12

Finally found the time to fix some much needed upgrades 😀
Because i never countersunk my drivers i had to use handcut some small wooden blocks and paint them black so my kickplate could be placed with the supplied clamps.
2 things left to do: finish the aluminium flightcase surroundings and mount the steel protective cornerpieces (dunno the correct US-name).
Now in use in the attic for some much neede music whilst doing the laundry and general arsing around/DIY 😀.
Finishing them is a bit of a low priority-case because of my recent project 🙄

A slot tweeter will better match Karlson dispersion.
This one rules... Its a well made plastic knockoff of a classic JBL.

Way bigger than it looks in the picture.
I think Beyma also makes one similar, but metal, and not so cheap.

How particular of placement are Karlsons? The pics show some beautiful examples of them!
Godzilla
Godzilla, The Karlsons are the most forgiving of placement of all the speakers that I've had.
