Thank you for the response, but perhaps I was not clear. Why does the perceived "consistency appearing in the polars" not give "the full story?" Is the polar "consistency" not a desirable trait? What is the full story?

Perhaps, but consider the degree that diffractions can be detected within the polars when they happen close to the source.
