Many years ago a Danish speaker manufacturer marketed a speaker with a special construction for the bass. The mid and trebble part of the system was conventional.
I made a copy of the bass system as stereo subs in a bi-amp system with active cross-over and bookshelf sized speakers for mid/trebble.
As seen in the picture the system consists of a sealed box divided into two sealed compartments. The 2 drivers are ScanSpeak 8" and 10" with magnets of the same size. They are connected in parallel resulting in 4 Ohms system.
I have 2 such subs in a stereo setup.
Do any of you have any experience with a similar system?
I can only say that these subs play bass that is extremely well integrated into the music. It is there when required, deep, firm and fast and with a definition and resolution that I have never heard from any other system.
I can recommend it to DIY'ers!

Its a variation on the "isobaric" principle, and IMO not a good one.
I can't see any advantage this has over standard "isobaric" loading.

Standard isobaric has the advantage of the small enclosure requirements for a certain driver size, as far as I can understand. Still the driver elements behave like one driver with the compromises this gives.
In my setup the two drivers together seem to have much better transient response than one driver. The transients not only explode at start, they also stop momentarily without leaving any other reverberation than what exists in the music. 😉
