I am getting ready to build a 2-way with two 5.5" woofers. Since the optimal box volume is 2X the box volume for a single woofer, is is better to create two isolated internal areas, one for each woofer?
i have two 5"s running in exactly doulbe the volume for a single - shared.
the problem with two separate enclosures is that you may not get them exactly the same. the problem with a shared volume is that if the placement is not the same (symetrical etc), you may get different responses. but no, i can't back this up, i've never heard a setup with a problem as such.
