Hello,

I would like to built this model:
Ellipticor-3
but the price of the speaker...

What I like on this project is very well documented. Just coy past and you have something and in term of design it's totally WAF.
I don't want to make a new project from scratch, if you have some idea.

You could use the cabinet design & use SB Acoustics drivers, however as soon as you change a single thing, it becomes a new project... would require a new crossover design.
The crossover as it is would require well behaved drivers, say poly cone. I see no virtue in using an inductor for the tweeter when a cap would be cheaper, the other prob I see with this design is Troel's predeliction for using 6" drivers for the upper mids, where most of us would prefer a 4" or 5".

The Troels SB741 with Bass box is very similar but probably quite a bit cheaper than the elipticor.

SBA-741

You could start by just building the top and put it on stands and then add the bass box later.

This one is also open source so you can buy all of the bits locally which may help.

I don’t think you will have a problem with SB, the SBA741 uses their Satori line of speakers which are very well reviewed and are very good value for money.

Troels even writes “ When I have the SBA-741 + bass module I forget about not having the Ellipticor-3s in place, my reference speakers.“ suggesting they are pretty close to the Elipticor performance.
