I have a Cetec Gauss #4883B 18" driver. I can't find any specifications that will help me build an enclosure that this driver will like to operate in, so I can use it as a sub-woofer with my portable P.A. equipment.

I would like to build a "scoop" style enclosure or maybe a folded horn. I have read that this driver being an older design, can be a little picky about how it is used. I have had this speaker in storage for over 20yrs. and just a couple of months ago I had it reconed. I have never used it. Only reconed it because I kept up with it all those years, and I guess I wanted to see something for the effort. I bought 6 of them in the summer of 1989, sold 2 that day. Sometime after that 3 of them were stolen, I kind of got discouraged and lose interest.

FYI. IMO,another good use (HT) of the Cetec driver would be a T-TQWT:

X = 69
Vas = 610liters
Qts = 0.2777
Fs = 22hz
Sens = 95db
Pe = 400watts
Xmax = 6.3mm
The Xmax figure EPA gave for the 4883B does not seem possible, sounds like 15mm Xmech was put in instead of Xmax.
6.3 Xmax was big back in those days, an EV 18B only had 3.3mm Xmax for instance.
Generally the difference between "A" or "B" models are differences in cone, surround, or spiders.
Are you certain your driver has an "A" rather than "B" kit?
thanks for suplying the specs, for shure it's a A model. I finely have the time to put it in WinISD....
let's go...!
