He said usually the computers (everything is brand new, they're compaq with dvd drive etc...) usually go for about 300-400$. And these monitors they have never had. The guy also said being its summer, they;ve had less people show up for these auctions, and the computers are going near the end, so there probably won't be many people they should go relativly cheap.

copied from the website, not sure if i need all that info... just wondering is it workable with a DIY projector, should I go check it out tomorrow. If I can get one cheap I will jump on it, and if i cant use it for a projector just use it for a monitor. but I need help ASAP sale is at 10 am tomorrow morning. If the price is good, I might pick up a few of these and try and sell them to fellow DIYers or on ebay.
Thanks for any help.

If you can get me one for really cheap I would buy it 🙂
The specs look decent though.
But the thing is, do they work? Because with computer auctions sometimes they wont let you test the equipment :/
thx

They were all brand new and working fine.
But they didnt go cheap at all. I went to the auction early to check out everything else, and almost eveyrhting was going cheap. When it came to the monitors though they went for 400$ each (CDN) and the original price tag was 449.99 and once you paid the buyers fee, the total came to over that amount. So really there was no point.
But the place is having another auction next week, I;m not too sure if they will have any, but I talked to a guy and he said they're expecting lots of electronics. its from a bussiness closing out (so some might be used)
Anyways, the auctions on saturday im gonna go check it out on friday when you can view, If i see anything DIY related or something that should inerest you guys, i will be sure to post.

Just FYI if they were FPD1730s , normal listed price is $449 USD not Canadian.

hmm. I guess the box tag was in USD then. Still I dont think its much of a deal for the monitor 400$ plus 15% buyers fee on top of that.
For all you americans, I came across a site that a guy posted in lumen lab forums the thread any ways he asked if any of the monitors there would work cause he can get them for free. He later says he knows its not a scam cause he got an ipod from www.freeipod.com. I checked it out, looks legit. (if you think about it, the site is making money cause its basically the companies advertising and you have to refer 8 friends who also have to register and do something for one of the advertisers) but on the front page I noticed it said US residents only.
I dunno if this will work or not, just thought I'd show you guys, and you can check it out yourself. I had already signed up and was eager just about to start when I noticed US only
...stupid canada.
a webstie step by step for the ipod, i think its the same for the flatscreens ipod once again, Im positive its legit, but thats just my opinion.
If any one does this and it works, would you sell it to this outtaluck canadian for cheap

? more like stupid us lol, if this company was smart, they could sell a whole lot more internationaly then just in the usa.
Trev
Lol ya, the more I look into it I just get madder!
I found out the company 'Gratis Internet' is listed on the better bussiness bureau so its all legit, they make there money from all the advertisemnts.
I also had an unlce who lives in the US and was sure I could use his address, but people don't tell me things and he moved back to canada a month ago. I wish they did it internationally, Im hoping to find something like this, but one that is eligable for canada.
Unless anynice person on this forum would let me use there address... 😀

Its a shame, i think its a good deal, we all should get more free stuff more often, atleast in a legal manner lol.
Trev

I'm still looking hoping to find on for international or canada. It can be so easy to... I hope it can help someone out on there DIY projector make one for cheap and all that crap. And if it does they can thank me by sending a ipod my way 😀

Yeah auction fees suck..
And a lot of the time youll have to pay taxes as well.
So your looking at ~30% 🙁

yeah, well its either a 15% or 20% buyers fee they charger, then gst is 7% good thing alberta doesnt have pst. But Im not sure if this auction charges GST. There is another one I have gone to, they dont even charge a buyers fee or GST. Lately though they havnt had anyhting good, But if i come across something like the monitors or anyhting interesting again I will be sure to post it.
