I discovered this for the first time yesterday , whilst looking for something totally unrelated to audio !
Download the White-Paper-Phantom-en.pdf 😉
Review here Review: Devialet Phantom | WIRED
I ignored all the airy fairy etc talk in the above, instead concentrated on the Bass Tech.
It appears they have acheived something remarkable, in such a compact device. Amongst other things, it operates in PP Push-Push to cancel out vibrations & movement. It also seems to incorporate a type of AceBass feature.
Simming this would be interesting, to say the least 🙂
Devialet Phantom
Uncover the richness of songs you have heard a thousand times in all their amplitude, from sub bass at 16hz to ultra sharp sound at 25kHz with no background noise, no saturation, no distortion, all that up to 3000 Watts and 105 Decibels of power.

When i started reading this i thought this was a joke.
It's well marketed over priced little speaker. I think most of the money goes towards the fictional poetic "specs" and "technology".

I want a few around the room. Surround sound and modal smoothing all in one. Lovely price too.
Will need to see some real test results though.

that's very inefficient, if they need 3000w for 105db 🙂
... and one needs additional airco....🙁
105 dB is as loud as a rock concert!
16Hz at a deafening 82dB!
The aluminum casting holds a lot of air pressure!
3000 watts! Three-THOUSAND watts!
It took 30 MILLION dollars to design!
You CAN'T hear below 20Hz!
I do find it amazing that they use parametric EQ though... that is why it took them 4 years.

Who cares....You CAN'T hear below 20Hz!
... you can feel it 😀
and so do the neighbours..

Yeah, but doesn't anyone else here find their claim of "No distortion" troubling, or is it just me?

Of course, zero dist does not exist!
But what to expect from a company targeting 'hig end buyers' with deep pockets.
If I'd like to get stereo using two of these at my place and play at volumes I usually listen to my soundsystem I would have to change electrical wiring in my house. 10A fusing per unit means 2300W of max power consumption per unit. Pretty awesome.
NOT.
NOT.
if it were a perfect sine wave then of course. any distortion then the harmonics make it perfectly audible. which is why..You CAN'T hear below 20Hz!

nonsense
Of course we can hear below 20Hz
It is just that there is nothing significant below 20Hz musically speaking.
In France, the are hard criticisms against french Devialet products and marketing strategy. Most Devialet claims are fallacious. The content of the few patents which were found (according to the managers, their number is more than 50) is based on old ideas.
