Hey guys,
Well after having the speaker sit for over a year (life and family got in the way) I finally finished them up. I finished up the recomended boxes but have not put a finished on them yet. I had to put the drivers in to see what they sounded like. Well this is the first time hearing a full range drive and a BLH and what blew me away is the huge soundstage. They still need to break in like everyone mentioned about the fostex drivers but I do like the way they sound. Now for some questions. I am planning on putting the felt on the magnet of the speaker, so there is one mod. Any other mods that I should consider while I have the speakers out of the boxes again. I was vondering if anyone tried a phase plug in these speakers? Or how about grounding the speaker minus to the basket? Well I hope to have some pictures soon. All I need to do is finish up the bottom bases for the boxes and put 3 or more coats of laquer on them. Thanks for any suggestions.

You could experiment with damping the basket with thin felt inside the legs and rope caulk or other (I think there are some things that are better than roap caulk) outside the legs and used heavily at the basket and magnet intersection.
I currently have mine off the baffle, but was experimenting with them OB. I did get some phase plugs from Dave, but haven't put them in place just yet.
I had read that Illusus actually cut off the whizzer and uses phase plugs, but this will cause you to loose much of your high end. The benefit of cutting the whizzer, according to Illusus, is you gain an awful lot of detail.

Thanks for the replies and here are the pictures finally. Let me know what you think. I did put the felt on the magnet and that is the only thing I did. They sound very good and have only about 30 hours on them. I was really thinking of doing the phase plug but we will see. Later,
