15" RCF bass driver - cause of ticking sound?

we shouldnt laugh about speakers catching fire.... its a worldwide problem that should be taked seriously!

I lost mine a while back and things will never be the same :'(

The smell is usually rather exotic!

Didn't read the whole thread but my guess would be the lead wires are impacting the cone. Try to route them more to the side or closer to the spider.

Aren't these lead wires threaded into the spider ?

I don't think RFC does that. I've only reconed one though.

This might be worth checking out then ! Also, check out the enclosure! any air leaks or something loose will cause a noise 🙂

The only way you can test these accurately is with a signal generator and an impedance meter(such as the "Marconi Measuring Bridge"
