amazing, no body seems to be interested in this LCD. If you want true HD resolution(720p) without a large box for a 17" LCD, it is the best LCD you can get

anyone has picked up one yet? how does it look? I dont have plan to buy it now yet. I have too many LCD already, but I'd like to keep it as an option for the future upgrade.

It is only found on Staples.com.
Can be found at the staples brick and mortar store as well. It costs $229 in the two stores near me but apparently YMMV with price.

an htpc ought to take full advantage of all 1280x800 pixels.

18wheeler , have you stripped this monitor? Just want to know how you found out that model # Toshiba Matsushita Display LTD154EX0HG,
not sure if you're referring to the right panel.

I went to staples to have a look for myself on my way home from work. Well.... I ended up buying it anyway :devilr:

Haven't got it out of the box yet. I'll post my impressions here in a little while.

Anyone know if 'standard' 15" fresnels will work with this LCD?

Anyone got it projecting an image yet?

I have yet to aquire any other need parts as I was waiting for the right LCD. Any help would be great as it's my first DIY projector project.

Thanks again for the help,

Gary

OK so my impressions...

No dead pixels 😀

Just watched T2 Extream edition and No noticable ghosting.

Pixel response tests are quite good, much better than I expected.

Both of these are consistant with an ~18ms response time.

At first look I thought the contrast ratio was very bad, as blacks looked very washed out (read grey), allthough colors looked pretty good. After a while, I realized much of this is due to a very poor viewing angle (The monitor only sits about 1 1/2 inches from the surface it is sitting on). I then noticed that while looking at the LCD from directly 90 degrees the top half of the screen has nice blacks, but the bottom still looked very bad. I believe this is due to some bad backlight bleeding. I think once this LCD is striped and in a box it will perform very nicely.

This LCD is definatly 1280x800 native, 1280x768 noticably blurs/stretches pixel fonts and true circles.

I don't plan on stripping it untill I research and find the correct optics for this screen, so I hope someone else can share thier experience with us in the interim.

This monitor is posted last year in a Chinese website. It looks exactly same as the proview (even the sticker on the base). And I noticed that both were made in China.
MAG PS576W
Once I get rid of my excess LCDs I will try this Proview.
