Ok, I've done a lot of research and came to the conclusion that I can't have at least 800 x 600 resoltion with a small LCD, so because I want to make a projector with the sole purpose of hooking a computer up to it with a Radeon AIW I want to find an LCD screen that supports 1280 x 768 resoultion. I know that if I run it at this resoution that I will be left with two black bars and the top and bottom of the screen, but I really just want that wide screen feel to it. So, my question is WHERE can I find a 15" or lower LCD screen that supports 1280 x 768 resolution, so I can take that bad boy a part and build my projector. = )
Any help would be great guys!

Ok, first of all, there is no such thing as 1280x768. There is XGA, which is 1024x768, and there is SXGA which is 1280x1024. Now I don't understand your black bars issue. We're talking about a projector. You can block off the top and bottom. I actually used Photoshop to figure out what the res would be on XGA if you block off the top and bottom to make it 16:9. It was about 568 lines, so it'd be 1024x568. That's a hell of a lot better than a widescreen LCD with 200-300 or so horizontal lines.
I slightly misunderstood you. Sorry. Your looking for a panel that does 1280x768. I know there's W-SXGA and W-UXGA. Silicon Graphics and Sun make widescreen LCD moniters for thousands of dollards. I'm not sure if they support W-XGA (which sounds like what your asking for). Other than that, I think there's pretty much only the panels that were meant for portable and car DVD players - and the horizontal res on those things are very low. Paying for a high-res widescreen panel is uneconomical- espescailly if your going to tear it apart and use it for a projector. You can get 1600x1200 panels for a fraction of what you'd pay for widescreen. You could then just lower the vertical size and make it a 16x9 ration while still having pleny of resolution left over. Or you could even put duct tape along the top and bottom ands still have a very high resolution. See my thread called "Anamorphic w/o lenses".
I don't understand the problem here. Get any panel that runs at 1280x1024 or 1280x960, and it will also run at 1280x768. Since you are going to run a computer as the source, I would just operate the panel at 1280x1024 and let the computer figure out the aspect ratio, scaling, and so forth.
jwb: I think I might just do that.
But what I wanted to is make a projector (and screen) that would be closer to 16:9 then 4:3 ... only because i think it would look cool and simply because I'm just hooked on the wide screen thing. I realize that if I get an 15" (or less then) LCD screen that supports 1280x1024 it will also support 1280x768 res which is what i want... the only thing is trying to find one... I can find plenty of 15" screens that support 1024x780, but I can't find any that support 1280x1024 and that's what I'm looking for, so if anyone knows of a 15" lcd monitor i could use that supports 1280x1024 that would be great!

17" lcd
Wallmart is selling the KDS 17" now for $398.98 with a warranty.
thank you very much. Nicely made with a steel look and a touch of blue. The built-in speakers are worth s...t, so i have my Benwin's still in use.
Screen gives nice crisp detail and no lost borders!! i think this one almost beats the viewable surface of one of my older screens a 19" Sylvania of which i have had 2, they broke down before they got to room temp. hhahahahhahahahahahhahahahhahah!!!!
this comes after reading pc.com, some idiot writing that 15" lcd would become more expensive as demand exceeds supply!
