I've used Myrra electronic transformers with great success. They're small PCB mount units which are autoranging on the input and give you a certian DC power out. Output is regulated or not depending on model. Cost is probably around $10US (I buy them from CPC in the UK for about £7 each.)

Wall warts come in AC or DC output. If you need DC, use one with DC output.
