Also, my transformers had something like 20% or 30% of free window area and were subject to some amount of forced air cooling (test conditions were not the same at all).
This makes sense to me.
Time constant is a matter of thermal capacity and thermal resistances.
Your design with 1mm wires and forced air cooling will have much less thermal resistances and resulting from that it will stabilize faster, if we consider similar thermal capacitances.
well, throw us some ballpark-fiqures if you have any. 🙂ChocoHolic said:
Well the price is one of the major disadvantages....
Compared to ferrite it is like diamonds.
Please understand , I cannot tell any prices !
But for private purpose I would be willing to pay it,
even if I guess that my small quantities would end up in even
less fortunate offers.
But as far as I know, they offer it for professional use only.
If you manage to convince the VAC guys, to sell such cores in for privat persons, please let me know.

US distributor (allstarmagnetics) of VAC has minimum order of 75$ but i dont know if they accept orders from europe and what they have in stock.
hmmph. or do i have to make up some fancy sounding project at uni and try to get some samples.
I think i actually have some sort of VAC 25mm cores from kemppi welding machines... dunno.
