12V Car Amplifier..

Hi

I had a car amp way back in the day that used a 12V powered high current output stage to drive an output step up transformer to match the impedence to the speaker. No SMPS. It was something like 60W + 60W and could be bridged easily. The name was Fourum or something like that. I suspect there are few chip amps that can handle a sub to any substantial power because of the high reactance of that kind of speaker. I've noticed that large currents and chip amps do not seem to mix well.:scratch2:

AS others have voiced, you cant - a bridge is two chips, period. If you want more wattage, you need a higher voltage supply. Unless you are lucky and recycle a lot of parts, you won't be able to build it cheaper than you can buy it.
