I contacted Victor several months ago asking if the TU 8100 could operate on a 12v battery as the amp is supplied by a 12v smps. This may have prompted his connecting a battery to his amp. I bought one and with a little error (unconnected ground screw that Victor helped me with) I was able to assemble the amp. It is now connected to my solar panel/controller/AGM 100 amp/hour battery. It sounds wonderful...thanks, Victor for all your help.

Hi:
Sorry to drag up such an old thread, but I notice you refer to the TU-8100 as a SET. Does that mean that the power section of the tubes run in triode mode?
Also, just to be on topic, one of those 12v rechargeable battery boxes from Canadian Tire would be a great match for this amp. I bet it would have an absolutely silent background.
Cheers

Thanks for the fast reply. The TU-8100 looks like an interesting little amp. I am surprised there isn't more written about it online. All the reviews I have found, though, say it is a very good sounding amp. Looks like it would make a fun project.
