12V Bass Horn

Hi

I have some questions if people can help. I am looking at folding layouts for horns to be used in 12v system.

They are to be stacked in V-shape like in picture, but im not sure about current folding, there is wasted space. Can anyone think of any better layout for folding?

Thanks

Thank xoc1. Yes that looks a lot better, saves the unused space in the corner reflectors.

I am currently trying another folding design, will post up when i've made a sketch.

In regards to the size, at the moment the cab is 120*39*39cm. Hornresp seems to think it will get down to 40ish hz's (in the V-stack configuration, not on its own).

Here was the other folding design I'm trying. The driver is a little bit squeezed but I think I can move around the panels a little bit to accommodate it.

I think I prefer your revised version of the old one as it has fewer long panels and is still easy build. The only problem it has is where to put the access hatch. Through the side is a squeeze and don't want to have two hatches through the rear of horn.

Hi tonskulus there are no maximum outer dimensions, i want to try keep as slim (to save weight) and long (so maximise V-stack). After looking again with the design xoc1 modified, last fold before the mouth is restricts too much, I think I will try looking at more folding that goes long ways like the second one I posted.

Hi bitsmasher thanks you for the suggestion. I can only find one picture with inside but that is very efficient folding. I will try remake in hornresp and when I have made model will post on here.

hi tmuikku i thank you for the pointer but unfortunately it does not go deep enough for what i want. Also i need the design i eventually decide to be portable enough to move around by myself with a box cart.

So with looking at the tuba 39 it is almost impossible to fold into my original dimensions, i need to make bigger by 25% to accomodate folds, also i think compression is too high for the driver i am working with (12-280/8-W).

So for this i am still looking/think up new designs as the other simple folds i make are not going low enough. any interesting folds that fit what i am looking for i will post up for anybody interested.

Thanks tmuikku. yea i looked and the bc412 makes me think of the BDEAP design, but they are not really similar. It looks cool anyway, i will look at other page aswell to get more ideas, more is better!

Anyway, i also looked at my own side and think the two simplest and longest i found are the two in pictures. the difference is one shorter horn with a off-set driver (no throat), and the other is longer horn with letterbox throat. they both sim in hornresp almost exactly the same.

In hornrsp black is simplest fold with short horn and off-set driver, gray is longer horn with letterbox throat.
