12 db bass boost 40hz vs 45hz...?

right now, with my current setup i gotta 12 db bass boost centred @ 45 hz. but when i look at other amps/xo's the normal bass boost is centred @ 40 hz.

is there any significant bass/acoustical difference between a 12 db boost centered @ 45hz and a 12 db boost centered @ 40hz...or is the 5 hz difference minor?

no their not much difference with the two of them.

12 dB of boost seems like an awful lot. Can yo turn it down? Or off?

I agee with Dave, 12dB boost is a huge amount, and will possibly be overstressing your amp and driver.

Could you give us more details on what system this is, so maybe we can help you get rid of the need for the boost altogether?

my setup

i basically got an odd setup...

i built 2 3 cubic foot boxes (ported @ 32hz ) this summer for some jbl 12' subs i bought to complete my room.

from my computer i got rca jacks into a 3 way crossover.

the first output goes to my first amp which powers my satellites.
the sub output goes to my second amp which powers the subs.

i got the sub's located under my desk both next to each other, currently crossing over @ 80hz, and sound best with the 12db boost @ 45hz.

i turned down the boost, turned up the gain, and lowered the xo freq..
wow...
everything sounds way livelier....

i definitely gotta test a dvd on this setup...
