hey everyone
ive been desiging this project for a few months here.
time to share what has been built so far
tomorrow its time to start measuring the drivers by themselves without filters
the XO will be first oder series: xo points around 300hz

Those little drivers can move a surprising amount. They have a low Xmax but that doesn’t stop them.Hmm, can the Fostex driver handle ~300/2^4 = 18.75 Hz/-24 dB even at fractional power?
My cats have been instructed to not ever touch my cones 😜Interesting design. I suspect no pets nor child there (risk of damage to exposed cones).
ive got the 1khz dip.
heres the first measurement; only the wideband connected.

with just a cap highpass interacting with a Z peak there could be excessive excursion and a funky response - what's your crossover? (that's a beautiful Fostex with loving remarks towards resolution)

no xo
If you have something like this it maybe easier to play with.

I use one on projects.
A DSP unit would be even better.

Thought the wide baffle would have helped a bit at 1k but zilch. Perhaps its contoured face gap-resonated and absorbed 800-1000hz?
How might dbx-223xs be used here? I actually bought one but never played with it, too many cable adaptors.

just for fun, ive measured the FF105WK. its almost ruler flat in comparison
what were Fostex thinking with that driver response?
am i missing something?

Well, I'll be joining you head-scratching in a couple days. My 'ez should have come today but was Springfest delayed. On the other hand the "dark silver" A5.3 got here fine and will likely join the 6.5".
Perhaps you might try 17-21cm (distance doubled) "backwave wall bounce" to boost 800-1000hz. Just a thought.
cant use eq in my systems.Perhaps just EQ that one.
im just happy to have done removable front baffle. I may try a 1200hz xo.
im building two more 2 ways with xo around 1.2khz and 1.6khz. Might be cool to compare to it?
im really bummed. This is a bad joke and i wonder why some members told me the 1khz dip was 1-2db, its more like 10db
ill see if i can replace my fe127 drivers in my fonkens and use the fe108ez instead.
