I like 10” (because the typically better HF response makes tham easier to integrate, but in this case push-push mounting yields a very significant reduction in box load.

It depends.
10"s give you the advantage of being able to build a pair of smaller cabinets and spread them around the room - averaging out room nodes is a Good Thing.
However, a pair of 10"s will rarely move as much air as a 15". For a start, there's the cone area difference (typically 640cm^2 vs 850cm^2), and then there's the fact that the 15" will usually have greater Xmax.
So, output vs averaging out the room.

I've had 2x10" per side some years ago (2000-2001?), it did not give me what I wanted, ended up as scrap eventually.
1x15" for bass per side should be enough for most domestic wants/needs if done right and given enough box volume.

If you're going dipole, I'd say you need as much clean displacement as you can get your hands on.
To give you an idea, I used a Beyma 15P1200Nd per side on an open baffle, and EQ'd it flat to 25Hz (needed ~30dB of boost). Cone excursion was hitting 30mm p/p at demo levels.

My understanding is quite limited as to what works and what doesn't and thats not hard to figure out, just read my posts. I'm now using Beta 15's, one per side slot loaded and bass seems fine. I have no woofer pumping from what I can see looking at the back of the speakers. I'm pleased with what I have but of course, we always want a cleaner sound. I've never had the opportunity to listen to another OB system so I have no comparison.

Those beta 15" are very good value for money, I have some that was in my old OB setup, get another pair and make w frames for vibration cancellation.
That's a lot of cone movement. The drivers I was using are good, and can take that sort of (ab)use.
I was just making the point that, in order to have deep bass reproduction on an open baffle setup, you need to be able to move lots of air.
Given the moderate Qts of the Beta-15 drivers, I wouldn't expect them to go particularly low on an open baffle. It's worth doing some measurements to see where you're up to at the moment.

FWIW When I used them there was a quite noticeable drop from 60hz down. But that was just a flat 50cm baffle, in an H frame single 15" or W frame double 15" I would expect some more output down low.
The Beta 15 has only 4mm Xmax, the 15P1200Nd has 14mm Xmax.
By comparison, the Beta 15 at around 10mm peak to peak would have similar distortion levels as the 15P1200Nd at 30mm peak to peak, but the 15P1200Nd would be over twice as loud (around +10dB).
At only 10mm peak to peak the 15P1200Nd would have no audible distortion, while the Beta 15 would be above 10% THD.

I would avoid most eminence LF driver unless you are on a tight budget and then, I'll consider eating beans for a while to save up the money required.
I have a pair of PD154 and they are very good though do not go very low.
A pair of Fane colossus 15XS are even a tad better IMHO.
Got great result with B&C as well.
Sold my both my big Scan speak revelator, 10" and 13" format after having those in for a while.... Do not regret them at all.
