Also how critical is the resistance of the 4mH inductor in the XO? The schematic says 0.45ohm,
TL version.TL or sealed?
I do have the TL plans in Sketchup 2017. Based on 19mm Baltic birch. I drew them for my own use. They have dado grooves cut in the sides to mate with the internal stuff so they may require modification if you don't happen to have access to a CNC router for cutting them. If you PM me I can provide a copy.
It’s not critical but the lower the better (more bass and higher overall sensitivity). This is where air cores won’t do as well and you may get more sensitivity with iron core. However, best sound will be from air core. Also how critical is the resistance of the 4mH inductor in the XO? The schematic says 0.45ohm,

OK, so if its a toss up between higher DCR, say 1.2 ohm instead of 0.44 ohm or using an iron core to get 4mH @ 0.44 ohm, which is going to 'sound' better? It’s not critical but the lower the better (more bass and higher overall sensitivity). I personally, think iron core sounds fine here and the added bass impact may be important to you. I would go iron core if 0.44ohm vs 1.2ohm DCR.
OK, Thanks so much for the advice! I haven't built a speaker before so I'm learning a lot from this forum!I personally, think iron core sounds fine here and the added bass impact may be important to you. I would go iron core if 0.44ohm vs 1.2ohm DCR.
Drivers have all arrived, so just sorting the plywood and XO parts.
There’s a XO PCB available that makes it easier in case you are interested.
Hi Jim, I went for the TC9 and splashed out on a pair of PS95's as I got them for £60 a pair with delivery. The PS95's look very nice with the copper bullet centre cap!Which 3" did you go for Richard?
Quick question. Both drivers should be flush mounted, correct?
Coming together! Just wainting on inductors.

Arguably yes but definitely the 3" if you can. Woodwork looks good so I'm guessing you'll have no problems!
Quick question on the soccer cone.
Line the outside with butyl sound mat. Fill the inside with polywadding -10 to 20 grammes. 1/4" felt on inside, 2" band at driver end.
Seal so its airtight.
Fill area outside cone with polywadding too. (back of woofer and all around cone.)
If anyone has any photos of this bit, I'd appreciate it!
Is there a source for the felt?

Btw, not sure if you have already taken note, you need to chamfer the rear side of the driver cutouts in the front baffle.

Cheers Zman!
Just got to find somewhere to buy a tiny bit and not 10m of the stuff!
Yes, got my chamfer router bit at the ready!

Richard contact carpet layers. They’ll more than likely have off cuts or will be willing to sell you 1m of it etc.
Yeah, I'm sure I'll find something somewhere...Richard contact carpet layers. They’ll more than likely have off cuts or will be willing to sell you 1m of it etc.
Another question, whats best to put on the base of the cabinet for contacting a stone tiled floor? Spikes?
